I have been working on a trellis for my parents. It is a Mother’s Day gift. I just got the trellis put in place and it seems to work. The big idea with this trellis is that the kiwi plants that are going to grow on it will strengthen and support themselves at some point in the future and the trellis will rot away and disappear. Therefore, I did not want to use any metal fasteners to put the trellis together. I used metal stakes to hold the trellis down to the ground. This will keep the trellis from tipping over in the wind. It is all connected with mortise and tenants and glue. I also wanted an overall form of the trellis that would allow the kiwi plants to grow from either side and connect in the middle and form a single structure.
